bleu8
Firstly Great forum folks! I started my 2.5 gallon pico tank 12.06.2006. Using 60% live sand (Over florida crushed) and 50 % live rock both from an established refugium tank from my lfs. I have also used natural sea water and Phosguard from the beginning with no algae blooms or amonia spikes to date. Specs: The filtration has been handled by the cascade 80 with activated carbon and a handy adjustable flow control for plankton feeding assistance. Salinity 1.025 and sitting at a steady 78 degrees (thanks to a compact wal-mart heater $10). I have a 13w CF 50/50 office lamp fixture with a handy pivot for access to the top of the tank. Lights are on 5hrs in the early morning and again 5 hrs in the evening with a break midday to combat algae growth taking hold ( so I have read over the years) I have been on top of a 10% water change using Blu natural water weekly. Most surprising thing has been the awesome coralline that has taken hold. I can attribute this growth directly to the addition of Kent marines Nano Reef 2 part ion and buffer system (5 drops ea. 5 min. apart every evening) Check out green live rock in set-up picks just weeks ago compared to current pics taken Jan 14th. Occupants: Couple of hermits, 4 astrea snails and a turbo many pods and worms – feeding consists of ocean nutrition products twice daily and marine snow (10 dops - weekly dose). Also Some light blue zoos, yellow polyps, shrooms and brown stars. (Been slow to stock corals) new LFS in Albuquerque plans on nano frag selection tanks soon. Any idea on eradicating pest featured in final picture below? Link to comment
