triplicus
I have a question for you all for a friend of mine. He has bought Tidal merine substrate araganite from Fosters and Smith that he planned on putting in a 110 reef and a 200 gal fish only tank. When he received it, it looks like a bunch of crushed up shells. In his existing 125 gal. reef tank, he had used Caribsea reef grade aragonite, but its granual. So, is the crushed shell as goodor better then the reef sand? Any help will be great! Link to comment
Mr. Fosi
Most people don't like crushed coral because it tends to accumulate organic crap in it, which leads to persistent nutrient problems. Some people use it in high-flow areas because it doesn't blow away as easy as grandualized aragonite. Link to comment
triplicus
OK. The one he bought wasn't crushed coral. It looks like broke up sea shells/snail shells. Anyone familiar with this stuff? Thanks! Link to comment
