Mr.Freeze
I bought a pair of Harlequin Shrimp but I don't know their sex? The seller told me that one of them is male and another one is female. But they are in the same size and I cannot identify their sex? Anyone here know how to identify their sex? Have anyone here have the photo that show the different between the male and female? Many thanks in advance. Freeze Link to comment
Stina
maybe they are hermaphroditic? (spelling?) so you don't need to sex them... similiar like lysmata amboiensis or skunk cleaner shrimp. Link to comment

2fingers
females have colored plates under there abdomen and males have yellow or clear plates. It's easier to see this when the females havew eggs attached under the plates. I don't think they are hermaphroditic Link to comment
Fishfreak218
it looks like you have two different species H. elegans and H. Picta apparently elegans has the blue spots and picta has the brown spots also 2fingers is right... thats how u sex them Link to comment
CGNano
He's right. I also agree with Josh. They appear to be two different species, Hymenocera Picta and H. Elegans. Link to comment
