"Converting" a reef-ready stand

I recently got a nice oak Oceanic stand for a new tank set up. I was told it was going to be a solid top, not reef-ready. When I got the stand, it was in fact a reef-ready with a hole cut out of one of the corners. Come to find out, all Oceanic oak stands are reef-ready. So now I'm trying to figure out a way to essentially cover the hole. Right now I'm thinking of getting a 1/2' thick piece of oak, routing the edge, and attaching that to the top. I figured I would ask if anyone has any other ideas that may be easier/faster and still look good, in case I'm just not thinking of them. TIA.

The stand was sized for a 58 gallon tank (37x19), and we are putting a 26 gallon bowfront on it (24x15). You do the math, and then let me know about that "der" comment. ;)

lol That's exactly the answer imo :), but this tank is my dad's, and he was set on the 26 bow. For my next tank I'm going bigger and won't have all these dumb stand issues.
