yel98vwgti
Hey all I was wondering what would be better for my 20h that i will be putting 20 pounds of live rock in and using a 18" CPR refugium. I am looking at either going with one 175W Metal Halide or 2 24' URI VHO's? both will be housed in a custom DIY hood. I am going to be housing some soft corals but havn't really done the research yet. My Buddy at the fish store said that he uses VHO's exclusivly on his tank's (he's been housing reef tanks for about 15 years now) he said they put out the best light and are the cheapest to replace. Is this true? Is the light of a MH Better than a VHO or is it the other way around? any opinions? thanks all Chris Link to comment
dickwayne
MH is better, especially for keeping SPS and LPS corals. They are, however, much more expensive to purchase, and VHO is cheaper to run and replace. I suggest you do some reading and searching on these boards to find out who has what type of corals under what light. Then, decide for yourself what you want and need. Link to comment
