Prowland
I got a used 5gal minibow for a great price the other day and immediatly went out and got a 20W 6500K light for it. It is one of those twisty ones. I put it in there and turned it on for a bit to see how it looked. I did this with no water in the tank and let it run for about 15mins. When I opened the hood it was very hot. The hood says that I can handle up to 25W's. Will this tank stay cooler with water in it or do I need to modify it. I am doing a freshwater planted tank with it. Thanks! Link to comment

Hekim
Most people add a small computer fan to help with heat issues on the mini bows. Do a search for mini bow on this forum and you will find several examples of mod's for the 2.5 and 5. Link to comment
PaulS
Depending upon where you live and how hot it gets during the day, this may or may not be a problem. I live in SoCal where today, 11/19/06, the weekend before Thanksgiving was a toasty 85+. So, for me, these lights became a problem. As Hekim mentions, do a search in the forums for this solution. There are several good ideas. I used a modified version of Doncb's setup. Link to comment
