johnstires
I just bought a few more pounds of live rock for my tank and broke apart one peice. In the middle of the rock was some black matter that smelled like hydrogen sulfide. I plan to cure the rock over the next couple days in bucket, but I'm not sure if I should cure it longer now that I exposed this black stuff. I assume that this black stuff is where the anaerobic bacteria live. Can any one confirm what this black stuff is and advise how best to proceed, now that I have exposed it. Thanks. Link to comment

johnstires
Sorry, don't have a pic. It is Fiji Live Rock. Do I need to cure it for longer now that I broke it apart? Link to comment
Xwhite
It'll probably take the same time to cure. Remember, there's no set time to cure rock. It's whenever everything on it that is going to die has died and nitrogen cycle bacteria have fully colonized the rock. John Link to comment
