How much salt

Sorry for being such a lazy arse and asking how much salt would be good for about .5 gallons of water.. I don't want to sit there and guess everytime I have to add the salt to the new water.

 

What would be an average amount? Like a cup, half cup. etc.

Usually 0.5 cups/gal will produce an SG between 1.022-1.026.

 

So ~0.25 cups.

use a refractometer or hydrometer and measure.

 

1 cup/ gallon seems like a lot, I think it is more like 1/2cup / gallon but I don't really pay attention I just toss a cup full in and test then add more as needed.

Yeah it is .5 cups per gallon so .25 per half gallon
