swirl_jeff
I'd like to take a cutting from the gorgonian in my home tank for my office nano. Anyone have any tips? Link to comment
Crakeur
gorgonian tips or tips on fragging them hehe Link to comment
sjpresley
Use a pair of scissors, leave gorg in tank, cut off piece, expose to air as little as possible, fill bag with water leaving no air, stick in bag, stick cut end in hole in LR in office tank, go back to work. Link to comment
Satchmo
Strip the end you plan on attaching (like you would with speaker wire) to expose the woody gorgonin core. It makes it easier for it to attach. Link to comment
tinyreef
he said "woody", hehehe satch, that frag you gave me is still growing. it's a bit limp tho. what do you usually feed, if anything? Link to comment
Satchmo
Sorry to hear about your limp woody. I usually just slap it around and yell in an authoritative voice until it complies. Hadn't heard of feeding it. Mine never actually eats, but the mere presence of fresh seafood seems to perk it up. And in case you were looking for a serious reply: never fed it. It stood tall when I acquired it, but got banged up in the bag on the way home, and has been limp since. I think the "skeleton" was damaged. Good to hear it's still around and growing, no less. Does it still have that silver color to the stalk? That was the coolest part. Almost looked spray painted. Link to comment
Satchmo
And Tiny- what ever happened to the Tommy Tutone tribute? I hope you didn't replace Jenny's number with your own. If so, get ready for some prankin'. Link to comment
Crakeur
please tell me that tiny's number isn't 867-5309. with regards to your limp woody, I have heard that Weiss has a product out called coral-vitagra and it works wonders. your gorgonian will be stiff as a board for hours on end. Unfortunately, one side effect is that it turns your tank water blue (if you've popped a viagra, you'll get that one). Link to comment
tinyreef
what silver line? ??? d'oh! stupid corals! it's morphed into the same color of my other gorgon, a nice exotic brownish crappie. : satch, nah, it ain't my number but it is one of my favorite numbers. crak, i'll have to try some of that coral-vitagra, i'm not sure if it works but it seems to make that little plump guy happy at least. Satchmo
The brownish crappie was the polyps. The stalk itself was a weird silver color. No more huh? Maybe it was spray painted. Link to comment
