Deleted User 4
Lovely, is that a porcelain crab I see? Definitely looks different compared to the ones I've seen before.. Link to comment
Jessy-Ray
Cool pics, The ones of the fish peeking out of their burrows are sweet!. Got any more?. Link to comment
Spirofucci
Those things actually live in the ocean? Cools pics! Alaska to Tahiti? What a dream vacation! Link to comment
metrokat
thanks for posting! Finally seeing what we have in our tanks actually out in the wild is a trip. That hot pink sponge is awesome. And is that caulerpa growing on the underside of something or is that picture upside down? Link to comment

gena
Very cool!!!!! I'm so happy to see some macro-algae shots in there too There's nothing like real reef photos!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!! Link to comment
patback
Awesome. I don't know how you did it, I would have been arrested in a minute for smuggling. I love the macros in the zoas and the clam picture. It's really hard to believe things with stupid names like "greenbay packers" and "radioactive dragon eyes" actually grow naturally in the ocean. Link to comment
alaskan84
Thanks for the comments everyone! It was tough, i just kept thinking to myself...now how can i get this fish/coral back home! I found the zoos on my last day and I was soo excited to see something in the wild that is in almost every one of our tanks. I have literally 18 gigs of pictures and some really awesome HD videos. Sitting at the LAX airport right now, but once i get back home i promise to share many more photos. The shot with all the macro algae was growing on the underside of a wooden dock floating in the middle of the channel. Link to comment
Genj
Really excited to see this! I want to plan a trip to Bora Bora, make sure you post more than just the pictures, but your overall experience would be nice to know. I need a cheap flight! Link to comment
alaskan84
Really excited to see this! I want to plan a trip to Bora Bora, make sure you post more than just the pictures, but your overall experience would be nice to know. I need a cheap flight! I don't know if i can help you with the cheapness....Tahiti was the most expensive place i have been to...hands down. we payed between 5-7 dollars for a bottle of water, and prices seemed to go up from there. It was a family vacation so my brothers went and so did my parents. Parents decided to upgrade to first class on Air Tahiti Nui to the tune of about 6k each. We spent all 10 days on moorea, which was totally great. We got to relax and pick our excursions each day....jetskiing, snorkeling everyday, bike riding, scooter riding, 4 wheeling, and a 4x4 truck excursion. I would have liked to be able to check out bora bora or some of the atolls, but there just wasn't enough time on this trip. We actually met a french shop owner who took us around and showed us some property and explained what options US citizens have for obtaining land in French Polynesia, hey you can buy your own private island for about 6 million!(totally dreaming about even moving there but if i could swing it with a land lease....i would). The people of tahiti are the friendliest of any country i have been to. They will do anything to help you! The food is primarily french cuisine with some local seafood and some chinese joints. If you can speak french thats a big bonus, but not necessary. I am 100% going back, and it will be a priority over Mexico, Hawaii or any other location i have vacationed to. It was a dreamland....paradise....i don't know how else to describe it. A Lush tropical jungle with coconuts, starfruits, papayas, mangos and more. Link to comment

alaskan84
anyone have a tip on embedding Facebook videos? I have a ton of HD videos on FB waiting to be shared...the embed video code they give doesn't seem to work, as you'll see below <object width="400" height="224" ><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="movie" value="http://www.facebook.com/v/483313048361094" /><embed src="http://www.facebook.com/v/483313048361094" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="224"></embed></object> Link to comment
