:welcome: Well this is the moment you've all been waiting for. The picture thread!!! Everyone one who committed to entering the contest may now post their pictures. Also if there is anyone else who wants in and didn't say so before go ahead and post your pics. The rules are 1 FTS and 3 "other pictures". Once the pics are posted they cannot be changed!! Once I get everyone's pictures posted the poll will open (not sure for how long). There are 3 categories, 0-1 year old, 1-2 years old, and 2+. Please include as much info as you want. You MUST post the agw of the tank over the first pic. Follow my picture post below as an example. Oh yeah, voters, please don't judge the tanks on the persons photo taking ability. Also if someone would like to doante a prize or 3 for the winners that would be COOL! :D Also, you may only vote ONCE and can vote for your own tank. Well here we go and good luck to all!

noobofreefs

Nope just your 24 gallon reef. It will be split into categories for voting by age (0-1 years 1-3 and so on, right ocho?)

Link to comment

I think there should be two main categorys.....

1. stock class - stock lighting - filter mods ok, no skimmers

2. Open class - anything goes - halides, sumps, etc etc

Link to comment
I don't know. Dosen't age usually have more effect on a tank then what is running in it? I just want to get more entres now.

A stock tank vs an open tank is the way to do these competitions....Thats how every website (even this one) does them.

Of course if you have halides you are going to be able to keep nice SPS and other corals that a stock tank with powercompacts wont be able to keep

Link to comment

There is a huge difference between a stock tank and an open tank....An open tank will allow the owner to keep almost all corals while a stock tank is mostly limited to zoas, softies, LPS

Link to comment

Ok here is my very humble entry...

Nano Cube 24DX, no skimmer, stock lighting, ugraded return pump to a MJ1200, and added a Koralia Nano...

First off, I apologize for the quality of the photos, I have a very low-end camera. Maybe someday I can have a nice rig like others around here. Secondly, I also apologize for the GHA. Seems I had a couple of snails die due to a faulty heater, leaving the CUC down some members, and some extra organics in the water.

So the tank:

24G NanoCube

Set up for 5 months now

150w Sunpod MH

Two Maxijet 1200 pumps going to either side of the tank (one chamber two, one chamber three)

Soapdish chaeto holder (hopefully I can build a better 'fuge in the next month or two)

Corals are all Zoas and Palys.

Two fish, Randall's Goby & Klauswitz Blenny

The Randall's is paired with a Tiger Pistol shrimp, but I oculd not get a clear shot of the two of them.

Decorator crab, three porcelain crabs, and a handful of CUC

Oh man... that is one sweet tank. Are those Armor of God palys? God those look sweet! One day I will get those... one day...

24 gallon Nanocube, started 9/4/2006

1 Yellow Jawfish

P1010091.jpg

Nice tank! How is your jawfish doing? I have been wanting a jawfish since before I even had a reef tank. How is he doing in there with the other inhabitants? Does he seem comfortable? And do you have an open top and have to worry about him jumping? Thats my main concern, because I am keeping an open top.

Jawfish is great. He's a nice little guy and moves around making new caves every once in a while. I've had him about three months. This is a 24g JBJ with the canopy. Even if it was open top I wouldn't worry about him jumping because he pretty much stays at the bottom of the tank. He might venture up a few inches when I feed them but otherwise he just hangs around peeking out of his cave.
