Marine Man Tom
Hi, It's been a long time since I've posted here, and my tank has been coming along reasonably over the past couple of years. The tank does have one issue however, there is too much coralline algae! 1 Side of the glass is completely covered with the stuff, and around 1/5 of the front has it on too. The back is now completely covered with plates of coralline algae jutting out. I hear that coralline algae is a good thing. But, is too much bad? In addition, I have a hard to scraping the stuff, it's extremely tough, and while I have a metal scraper, the more I scrape, the more comes back. Even when siphoning the water as I do it! If anyone has any ideas on getting rid of this algae, they would be greatly appreciated. I want the sides of my tank to be clear again! (1 side is fully clear) I do regular cleaning of basic green algae which doesn't grow back for about 2 weeks/1 month. Thanks again and in advance Link to comment
1fishmonger
Scrape at least once a week. Magfloats or similar can be used during the week and use a metal scraper/razor blade for built up coralline. I have to scrape at least once a week and go over all sides of my tanks with a mag float every other day. Link to comment
Marine Man Tom
Ok, I'll do a big scrape tomorrow while I'm water changing. The magfloat for me only cleans small, weak green algae. Using it on coralline algae basically tickles it Link to comment

Dani3d
I am so glad I don't have any of the crap. When it appear on my glass I use Kent metal scraper to remove it quickly and it is easy to remove with that scraper. My glasses are all clean and the tank look clean without this ugly algae on the glass. I would not mind it on the rock but never on the glass, not even the back one. Link to comment
