miniwhinny
Thanks everyone for such nice comments. I'm really loving this set up. pimp4cheddar, I went BB because my original plan was to go with a high flow, low nutrient SPS tank. I moved all of my SPS in and within a week they were all dead. I was so bummed. I had no idea what I did wrong, everything tested perfectly. Then for Christmas hubby bought me a digital thermometer. I hooked it up and OMG it was 14 degrees different from my glass one. My glass one read 78 and my digital read 94 !!!! I went to my local LFS to check with theirs and found my glass one was 14 degrees off. Somehow the paper scale inside must have shifted throwing off the reading. I'd set the tank up in November to this temp reading arggg. Well long story short (no looong lol) loosing the SPS made me rethink what to do but in the mean time I'm hooked on BB. I've dropped my flow down and it's still staying spotlessly clean. Once a week I do a 20% water change and turkey blast my rocks and the tank stays so clean. I don't have any algae growing even with a minimal CUC. SO the BB is staying I do have plans on filling it with mushies and clams though Mercuryne, I got my clowns locally from my LFS www.oasisfish.com. The are an ORA dealer. I can't say enough good things about this store, the owners are cool folks. Last month they had 2 very young ones in. They'd already bonded and one of them for sure was a grade A but they were being sold as grade B's for $50 each (no extra because they were bonded) I'd have bought them in a heartbeat if I had an empty set up. Most time that I go in they have babies - usually B's but like mine very, very well marked - and they will ship. Again, thank you everyone for the nice comments Link to comment
miniwhinny
I've seen some awesome 'shroom dominated tanks. My favorite 'shrooms are bubbles (St. Thomas, Sanctithomae) so this tank will be bubble dominated - or at lease that's my plan I haven't seen a bubble dominated tank so maybe this will be a first...we'll see how it goes Link to comment
miniwhinny
Here's a pic of my solitary bubble. Hey ya gotta start somewhere lol Link to comment
mnherper
Oh...can you tell me how? Aqua mags are 3 for $19.95. I thought that was pretty reasonable but I'm always open to saving a few $'s http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/science/770f/ something like this just glue some felt to them and glue a piece of live rock to one of some sand. miniwhinny
Thanks. The pictures don't do the colors justice plus they are a little upset from being shipped and arriving in the snow of the Oregon High Desert from sunny Florida in less than 24 hours lol. I'll post some more pics once they've cheered up Link to comment

miniwhinny
Where did you buy them from? I got them from ReefGardener (a Nano-Reef sponsor) and I have to say that Morgan was awesome They were packaged really well AND they are exactly like the pictures she sent me and were on her site. I'll be ordering more from her in the future for sure. Highly recommended. Link to comment

malibumike
Just a couple of pics of the diversity of life just on a few rocks. Gotta love those worms Your tank looks awesome, wish I could've found that type of LR at my LFS. I was wondering, what's the thin spaghetti looking creature with the stripes? I once had one in my older tank but had no idea what it was? My blue spotted puffer ended up taking it out eventually.. Link to comment

Thanks The spaghetti looking thing is a spaghetti worm (seriously) my tank seems to be full of them. They're harmless and awesome scavengers. They'll reach out and grab any detritus or left over food and gulp it down. I've heard they can bug corals with their little arms but they've never bothered mine (so far) Link to comment

miniwhinny
FTS from 2 days ago I'm in a search for one or two rocks that I can place against the back wall on top of this 'scape. Looking for something similar in shape to the center rock. Of course when you're looking for something you can never find it lol I'm sorry everything looks so blue. I'm running a phoenix 14,000k which is a blue light but my camera needs messing with so it's not making the blue bluer (is that a word? LOL) Link to comment

bonsai reefer
Lookin good so far keep it up and you will have a really great tank once everything fills in. Are you going to put any other fish in there? Link to comment
miniwhinny
Nice aqua scape! Your LR is beautiful. Love your RBTA! Thanks Oh that's not a RBTA - it's a bubble mushroom (sanctithomae). Sorry didn't mean to confuse and they are very similar in a picture. I have 7 of them now. I'm going to do a 'shroom and zoa tank but I'm concentrating on the bubbles 'shrooms as they are my favorites. Lookin good so far keep it up and you will have a really great tank once everything fills in. Are you going to put any other fish in there? I think I'm going to leave it with just my picassos in there. The only other fish that I'd really love to have is a mandarin. If I could come up with some pod factories with some spare tanks or train one to eat ROD's food then I'd get one of those in a heartbeat. I am aware of how hard it can be to care for them so it's not something I'm jumping into as a whim. Link to comment
miniwhinny
Quick observation for anyone who searches "sanctithomae" and comes across this thread. Everything I've read on these 'shrooms says they are low light lovers, yet, the ones I have higher in the tank are fuller, plumper and growing bigger than the ones lower in the tank. I've read that red colored corals are from deeper depths but I have a red one higher than all of the others it it's doing the best of all. Link to comment
simplenough
you should check out http://www.coralmorphologic.com/ They always have st. thomas mushrooms in stock if you ask for them; even if it isnt posted on their website. Link to comment
