Oracus
Current FTSHey!I am new to marine tanks and nano-reef so I thought I would share my tank! Started out as a DeepBlue 8g modded with biocube filter chamber. 36w full spectrum LED, 3w 6700k solar flare LED over chamber 2. Crushed coral substrate 1 1/4in at the deepest, 6lb live rock, chamber 1 heater and LR rubble, chamber 2 two large fist full of cheato, filter floss and checkouts blue, chamber 3 is the pump. Tank ran a month with LR rubble and crushed coral then added big LR, cycled for 3 weeks while monitoring the LR hitchhiker's brittle stars, snails, feather dusters, and peanut worm. Once all traces of ammonia and nitrite were zero added small hermit crab and finally last Saturday one small Ocellaris.Temperature: constant 78Ammonia: 0 ppmNitrite: 0 ppmNitrate: 0-5ppmpH: between 8.0Alkaline kh: 196Specific Gravity: 1.023-1.024Phosphate: 0.25Current stock listOcellarisBlue legged hermit crab3 Stomatella snailsRandall's pistol shrimpPalysZoasMontiporaDuncanMushroomFrogspawnhttp://m.imgur.com/gallery/LWvyR 4 Quote Link to comment

You shouldn't need the rubble with the live rock/sand, but if you want to keep it, I would run the floss as the first thing. 1 Quote Link to comment

Anden
Looking good but that is the biggest pico i have ever seen;-) but i will follow and hope to see more when stuff grows. Quote Link to comment
Oracus
I called it a pico because with the filtration chamber and live rock its close to 5.5g-6g of open water instead of 8g. Quote Link to comment

HuyHa114
Clowns dont swim around much once they pick something to host. Mine stays glued to my frogspawn 24/7. 1 Quote Link to comment
Oracus
A Clown in a pico lol hope you joking lets say you have a 8 gallon pico tank (the biggest in the World) why have a fish in it? I used Igreen's Ultimate Guide to Nano Fish http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/74703-lgreens-ultimate-guide-to-nano-fish/ who states 6-7g for Ocellaris. Do you know how old or how big i clown can get? All knowing Google indicates 3-4.5 inches for max size. As for the tank size designation which would you prefer me to use? The physical tank size 8g or the display size which is closer to 6g? Oracus
Advice needed! My frogspawn has been in the tank since Sept 15, it stayed closed for two days then opened fully after that. On Sept 22 did my weekly water change(day behind schedule) of 4 gal. On Sept 25 noticed the frogspawn closed up but not fully retracted. I tested parameters Temperature: constant 78.4Ammonia: .25 ppm(false reading)Nitrite: 0 ppmNitrate: 0ppmpH: 8.0Alkaline kh: 161ppmCalcium: 420 ppm Specific Gravity: 1.025Phosphate: 0 Tested again on the 26th because of the ammonia and tested 0. As of last night it was still closed but not as much even after my weekly WC Side note my timer malfunctioned last night and did not shutoff this morning (17hrs on), so i left the timer off today to hopefully prevent any negative affects. Oracus
Can you take another API ammonia reading so we can see trends off that prior .25 Sorry for some reason I did not get notified of a response. I moved the frogspawn to the front of the tank in a higher flow area on Oct 3. Now its back to normal. http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/377191-advice-on-frogspawn/?p=5405088 Today is my testing day so I will update parameters. 1 Quote Link to comment
Oracus
Today's testing Ammonia 0 Phosphate 0 Nitrate 5ppm I believe some of the irritation might have been my pistol shrimp tunneling under every damn thing in the tank. If it happens again I might place it on a smallish rock. 1 Quote Link to comment
Oracus
Starting to see small patches on dark green on my live rock. Going to test phosphates tomorrow, Wednesday is WC day so I'll see if it rubs off or not and possibly texture. Quote Link to comment
Oracus
Tried to scrap it off yesterday with my aquascaping tweezers, i was able to get some to come off but it was like scraping the rock off instead. Quote Link to comment
Oracus
During my water change i felt it and was not slimy or fuzzy and did not rub off. So possibly a Coraline variation? Quote Link to comment

Oracus
Well sad news is I am ditching my blue legged hermit this week back to the LFS. I found him munching on one of my zoa frags, there are 1-2 very small heads left from 9-11 heads. I believe this is the second time hes done this. Quote Link to comment
