I am looking for a reef ready system, by that i mean one of those tanks that have the sump built into the back of it.

Any suggestions? prefereably under 30gallons

That's called a All-In-One. We have a whole forum here dedicated to them. You'll find a thousand differing opinions on the "best." Just check out that forum and see what you like, look at how people upgrade, what people don't like, etc....

BTW, I'm partial to innovative marine fusion tanks.

im debating between the IM fusion 30 or the 25, i like the height of the 25, but the 30 is longer

So how about the fusion 50? The larger, the more stable!!

is it possible to set it up without a cycle. My plan is to add some new live sand, use my live rock from my other tanks, and 50% water from other tanks

Not doing a cycle of SOME kind is a death curse to your tank's live stock. We all have to do them, otherwise your going to be running damage control for months. Save yourself the trouble, money, and heart-break and let the tank cycle. It is only a few weeks and it secures that your tank will be ready to not only support livestock but be healthy.

If you are in a rush due to current tank problems you can get saltwater and live rock that has ben kept by you LFS for 6+ months to ensure it has established bactria growing and some good coralline algae growth to get the best results.

I did this and is still took about 2 weeks for my Ammonia to zero out and stay that way with ghost feeding.

Do you HAVE to do it, no it is your tank - but just be ready to deal with the repercussions of this. Just my two cents.

well the issue is my 20 gallon now has a crack, its held with silicone but i don't know how long that will last... so i am looking for the fastest way to cycle. on a side note, my live stock is just two clown fish and a bunch of coral

Not true. There are many threads out there where people do this. As long as you are using established live rock out of a running tank you shouldn't have any problem. I set my 15g up with live rock out of a running tank and never had the slightest hint of a cycle. I had corals in it within 5 days.

OP you should be perfectly fine IMO since you are just moving your current livestock that your rock is already handling. Like you said, use new sand, and just make sure the parameters are the same n

I totally agree to a point - waiting a week or too and making sure everything is still holding strong before adding livestock is the safest bet Like I said originally. I would always err on the side of caution because I would hate to lose livestock.

To reiterate my point, no you don't have to cycle but is safer to give it some time and make sure IMO.

He is doing a tank to tank transfer from what I understand. Unless there are other tanks tanks he can put the livestock in I would say everything need to be moved together.

I agree - Hope I didn't come off harsh.

On that same note, why the size change from a 20g to a 30 or 35g?

No not at all. Depending on the budget you might look into cadlights. I know they have a spotty reputation for customer service but they are so nice looking.

The new Lagoon series by Innovative Marine is looking mighty tempting to me... So much so I'm pretty certain the Lagoon 25 is going to be one of the two tanks I pick up.

I had an aquapod.. It was a great tank. I took made some changes to the back filtration part, put some filter floss in and took some stuff out. For some reason though a leak started. I was not able to identify its location, as it just started leaking from where the plastic hit the glass.... So I took it into the backyard and launched golf balls at it. Pretty satisfying when you hit it.

Ever watch Tanked??? They add fish right away I would never do that but if done correctly it can be done.

I have always wondered just how long those fish live! My guess is not long!

Yes, it is possible to set up without a cycle - you have to use all of the old biological filter however. - Sand-rocks-filters - everything.

50% of the water is okay - water doesn't have the bacteria and filtration capabilities, the live sand and rocks do.

If your sand is new, I would set it up in the tank and pour some of the old sand in it to seed it. I know some companies says live on the bags but it's really not.

Tanked did a system right by my house, had around 100 fish in a giant 800g tank. All live stock was added in one day. Two weeks later 60% of all fish were dead and the tank was having a massive bloom. When transferring tanks if possible it's never a bad idea to wait a day or two before adding all your live stock just to make sure.

This isn't entirely correct. You absolutely do not have to have a cycle when you set up a new tank - if you are not using anything new. With established old rocks and sand, you don't see even a blip on the test kits.

This is not the same as what the OP is talking about though. Tanked set up a brand new system and threw in a massive bio-load. OP is moving his established tank contents into a new tank.

I have seahorses which are sensitive to ammonia and water quality. I just did an entire tank transfer a few weeks ago and everything did fine. There was not even a mini cycle...so yes, it can definitely be done. Its like Kat says, transfer all the biological filtering stuff, (rock, sand) and i always use some of the water. Usually I add bio Spira but this time I just used Seachem stability. I checked ammonia but there never was any. You will be fine.
