HarryPotter
Hi everyone, I have a 45 gallon aquarium and am wondering if the Innovative Marine MiniMax DeskTop Reactor will be sufficient to run some Carbon/GFO. Currently my tank is set up with a BRS Single Reactor, which is WAYYYY overkill. I do use Chemi-Pure blue already so am not sure if the reactor is necessary, what do you think? Will the IM MiniMax be enough if I stick it in a chamber? Link to comment

HarryPotter
Depends on your phosphate levels. You may need a LOT of GFO or a little. Without a reactor it slowly climbs to about .04 in a week. I need to replace my Chemi-Pure though. When I turn it on for a day, the phosphate goes immediately to .01. I feel like thats shocking the corals, and a smaller reactor 24/7 would be better. Exodus
As long as your mixing the Carbon & GFO together in the reactor, the pump on the IM Is too powerful to tumble the GFO alone, there are several posts and videos people have made showing the issue. Though mixed with the Carbon it should be just fine. I decided against the Dual and went with the Mini, glad i did hearing the single was overkill Link to comment

I'm going to fix up my media bags and see where that takes me. The single was/is overkill, but apparently one is supposed to "measure the media" you put in there! I just filled it up.... So maybe that's where my problem is? Link to comment

Yeah both Carbon/GFO need to be in measured amounts, BRS Has a calculator on their site many people claim the numbers on that are still too high so I personally just cut the numbers down some myself.
