evilc66
That's some impressive work. I especially like the column stand. Link to comment
Sancho
Very nice. What do you use to cut your acrylic? Link to comment
ajmckay
Amazeballs What's the first acrylic box for? The one with the black handle? I'm much newer to acrylic but have been working with wood (hehe) for a while now. I made a cool filter floss/filter sock holder a little bit ago that I'm pretty proud of. It's pretty crude construction wise, but I did learn a lot from building it. I'll post a pic sometime. Link to comment
tibbsy07
Been getting in to woodworking myself. Learning how to refinish and work on electric guitars, currently. Would like to build a stand some time. Link to comment

I like to build stands as tall as possible. my clients really like them. Very nice. What do you use to cut your acrylic? Depends on the project, but I generally use a table saw and router. laser cutter for some stuff. but the edges from the laser cutter cannot be welded. Amazeballs What's the first acrylic box for? StevieT
but the edges from the laser cutter cannot be welded. Get an edge finisher or use that router Link to comment
cromag27
Get an edge finisher or use that router Not worth it. once the acrylic is heated, the molecular structure changes. it's had to tell how deep the heat penetrates. easier to use my buddy's cnc router! wish I could afford one of those. Sancho
I can never get them as smooth as I would like them to be with my router and table saw. So I end up paying the acrylic shop to cut them on the cnc for me. Thats why I ask. Link to comment

Not saying it's worth it for your projects but we weld laser cut edges every day Link to comment
bdevillier19
Not saying it's worth it for your projects but we weld laser cut edges every day I looked into welding laser cut edges as well and was told its OK for things that are not structural (media racks, filter sock holders, float switch mounts etc.). But for things holding water pressure such as sumps, ATOs, tanks, the laser causes issues with the acrylic being work hardened for a lack of a better term. The heat can cause possible seem failure or crazing. Is this true? Link to comment
cromag27
Yes. heat causes a change in the molecular structure of acrylic. welding heated edges can lead to crazing and failure of the seam itself. routing is still the best way to prep an edge for welding. Link to comment
Mr. Microscope
wow! Very nice work! What is the first acrylic box with the half divider for? Fuge? Link to comment
cromag27
Just structural support since it was 24" tall. Link to comment

You would never weld a laser cut part no matter what it is for on it's own. Link to comment
braaap
Cromag - Where are you located? I'm looking for an ATO container. Link to comment
