tibbsy07 Posted July 25, 2014 Share Posted July 25, 2014 I have a question about putting a JBJ float switch for the JBJ ATO on a rimmed tank. The clips that come with it, if used, make the float switch pitch forward at an angle. I tried removing a small section of the rim as well as cutting the provided clip (only one of them) to see if that would help, but to no avail. Any suggestions? I have been tinkering with egg crate to make a rack of some kind but it hasn't worked so far. Link to comment

Yeah a magnet would have been a better design. I thought of trying to figure out a way to use a magnet. Actually, a two little fishies nano mag might work... Link to comment
smiz Posted July 25, 2014 Share Posted July 25, 2014 only thing you have to make sure is that the magnet doesn't interfere with the design of the float valve. I know even on my tunze they recommend cardboard in between the glass and mag for thinner tanks, because it can interfere with the float switch. Link to comment

If they don't work, I could also get those zoomed magnet suction cups. Link to comment

farkwar Posted July 25, 2014 Share Posted July 25, 2014 Ill make you one if you like. FYI, when you buy maxi jet pumps, there is a little clippy doodle thats great for rimmed tanks. Get two pVC plumbing 1 inch caps. Drill holes in them so water gets in, snails dont. Drill hole for float switch. Tie strap or Weldon it to the clippy doodle. Digital Aquatics makes an acrylic bracket for float switches, adjustable. DIY, take a 1 inche wide piece of acrylic. Propane blow torch or heat gun, bend to fit. Drill hole for switch.
