Hey guys, after being tank less for a couple years decided to just stop by our local store to look around. Looking around the store spotted some new tanks I hadnt seen before and fell in love with look of the 30L and had the owner order me one. First one came with the baffles smashed from playing ping pong with the return pump but lucky for me the second came in tip top shape. This is going to be a slower build as Im waiting on equipment to be released.

Filtration : 2x Custom Caddy

Reactor : 2x IM Desktop BRS Mini Reactor with GFO/Carbon Mix

From my understanding they only cover 24", I could go with the xr30w with the wide angle lenses but like the idea of being able to space out the lights.

Ya, it is hard to light something beyond 24''. It's true that the xr30w will only cover 24'', but the outer 6 inches will be very poorly lit. Going with your plan, you will still lose light in the middle even if you space them out with the wide angle lens.

I am curious to see what happen with your light spread. What kind of corals do you plan on keeping?

I pretty much have the same thing on order, I was told RMS will ship mid August, what were you told? I also went with 2x XR15's

I have the xr30w pro over my 30L and the coverage is great. I don't have the wide angle lenses and I don't have any dim spots even at the very edge

Trying to figure out the cheapest way to make a bracket until they ship
That's going to be issue also.

Your tank looks great!,

Over the holiday I got the pukani all acid washed. Can't believe the junk that came out, I'm shocked that some people put it in their tank as is.

Kind of at a stand still, waiting on the RMS from Ecotech and Tropic Eden sand from Premium Aquatics. Anyways I got the Apex and MP10 drivers mounted and programmed.

Looks great man, nice to see your setup wet. Waiting for the RMS as well so I can install some wide angle lenses as a test (I don't think they are necessary but may as well check them out...)

I've thought staying with the xr30 Pro now that Ive had it above the tank for a week or so. Let me know what you think of the wide lenses as that thought has also crossed my mind. Does anyone see a problem with running two Minimax reactors in the return area ? Thanks!

Can you please explain how it's possible to loose light in the middle using two XR15w? Thanks!

I'm happy you led me to your build. We think alike!

Are you happy with your sand, and how much did you get? I always liked the Pukani rock, and afer seeing yours, I'm convinced it's my favorite.

Did you settle for 1 Xr-30 vs 2-Xr-15?

BTW, I have a picture of my grandparents next to my tank. For a second, I thought to myslelf, "Now how did he get a picture of grandma and grandpa"? lol

If you space them out too much, you will lose intensity in the middle of the tank. I wouldn't move them too far apart.

If I remember correctly I got 20#'s, it Tropic Eden Mini flakes, the mp10's do move it but in my experience once the tank matures more it won't be a problem. I'm still running a XR30 Pro but I'm going to be ordering the RMS and XR15's.

Been awhile so thought I was due for an update. Since the original pictures above I have drained, emptied and cleaned the tank. Even after acid washing the Pukani I couldn't get it to stop leaching so I tore down the tank. I removed the light bar I had an added the RMS and added Wide Angle lenses to my xr30w Pro instead of going with 2x xr15w's. I also went with Reef flakes this time so I could increase my flow with out a sand storm and ordered 30#'s of Manado. If you are on the fence with this rock don't be, it is by far the nicest rock I've had. Anyways to the pictures :
