drgibby
So the tank has been running now for over a year only a couple mini crashes but things recovered ok. Lately I've noticed most of my sps are turning green? Not sure if it's lighting, nutrients, or if my slimmer is spreading it's seed somehow. It bothers me now though because my lovely Oregon tort now has a green tint to it. Nano sapiens
Various reasons for this (lighting, intensity, nutrients, trace element abundance/deficiency, etc.) Google brings up a few hits on 'Oregon Tort Green'...here's just one that relates: http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=64911&title=blue-sps-turning-green Link to comment
drgibby
Interesting article I've often wondered if leds or t5 mattered. I've run my Nanobox over the tank since day one the growth is great and most of the corals have kept there color. I might try turning Down the white/lime color to see if there is a difference. I wonder if Dave has heard anything like this before. Link to comment
drgibby
Dave says he's never heard of th lights doing that. Most likely nutrient issues... I have been doing lots of reading and am going to try and starve my tank of phosphates and nitrates for a while. Whenever I test they read 5 nitrates and .03 phosphates. Some article has said though that phosphate wicking can cause green coloration in corals and then when phosphates are removed for a while colors seem to return. I also checked parameters and the only thing I might dose a bit is mg. It reads at 1200. I also have read that iron in the water can cause a yellowish color to them. I'm almost positive there is no iron in my rodi water but will check anyway. Any other thoughts? Link to comment
