maizenblue00
So I'm getting my hands wet with a new SW tank! Components so far:- IM Nuvo 38 with upgraded pump, used - Maxspect Razor 20.5" - Two rotating deflectors - Custom tank stand - Jager 200W heater Pending purchases: - Live Rock - sand - test kits: API SW Master, Hanna Checker Phosphorus, Hanna Checker Alkalinity, Salifert Ca and Mg - refractometer - Tunze Nano Protein Skimmer - Tunze Osmolator ATO 3155 - possibly MP10 - possibly a media reactor I'm leaning toward Pink Fiji or Oolite....any advice would be much appreciated! I'll most likely get my LR from my LFS. PICTURES!! Just got the tank.... Starting on a stand I got from Office Depot thinking it'd be a good choice, until I realized it was flimsy as heck....I ended up building it and trying to retrofit it with braces to make it stronger. Fail. Off to Lowes for supplies! A very handy employee cut A LOT of wood for me for free....he did a great job! Starting on the build with the frame.... Until I realized that I'm an idiot and that I used the wrong size.... Quick fix! Continuing with the legs... Some dry fitting... Threw on the top just to check the look...tripod style. I used JB Weld to make up for any gaps at the joints, just to have even weight... Construction, continued... More braces... Took out the center support on the bottom because I have the stand on a base and it didn't make sense to give up extra storage space down below with a "raised" floor.... Threw in some support for shelving Moving to the garage! Dry run with the skin... Screwed in.. Cut a hole in the back with my Dremel for ATO and whatnot... Front view in the sunshine Rough fit with some trim... Had to add some makeshift supports because I decided to go with hidden hinges....seen as small rectangles at the top and bottom behind the front face... Starting to come together... Now I just how to figure out if I'm going to spray paint it (initial plan) or stain it since I liked the way the wood turned out!! Link to comment

Psychosis
I'd run with a nice dark stain and a high gloss finish. That's how I'm going to finish my stand, at last when I Take the time to actually finish my stand. I like your trim work, I opted to use a very simplistic design for mine (cut skin to match opening, use 3/4" round trim in gaps, profit.) What are your plans for the tank? Link to comment
Parker22
Looks great, I too have a Nuvo 38 and the Razor! Link to comment
maizenblue00
Parker22, that's awesome man! How do you like the setup overall? I'm hoping the razor was a good choice....what are you running for filtration/ato/skimming/etc?? Psychosis, I'm hoping to start with corals and add fish once my tank is more stable....
