jekagan Posted May 28, 2005 Awesome! Very, very tastefully done. What kind of tank is that? An Eclipse, by chance? I had an old Eclipse 6G that I'd used for years as a brackish tank, but just set it up today with some live sand, 7 lbs of live rock, and a few hermit crabs to get it cycling. Replaced the stock bulb with a 50/50 and have it on a timer running 12 hours a day (hopefully it'll be enough light, as the fixture in there is kind of small). The rock hadn't been moved for months before I bought it, so there shouldn't be too much decay from transportation shock (fingers crossed). How often are you doing your water changes, and how much at a time? I was thinking about building a 1G sump to help aerate the water and facilitate water changes. Still not sure if keeping the bio-wheel is a good idea or not. I've heard opinions both ways. Any thoughts on the matter? Thanks, and nice work! Quote Link to comment
THEnick Posted June 15, 2005 jakegan, thanks a lot. sorry it has taken me so long to reply, computer issues. anyway, i'm pretty brand new to this whole tank thing so i don't know all sorts of crazy mumbo jumbo but it's been up for almost 3 months now i think and it's doing really well. i change the water 1-2 times a week and i do 25% each time (1.5 gallons). oh yeah, and it's an eclipse 6 but i built a ghetto hood and got a coralife 18 watt compact flourescent light. i leave it on for almost 12 hrs. daily. i haven't really added anything into the tank for about a month because i don't want to overload it and also because i'm low on funding haha. anyway, thanks for the comment and take it easy.
