Machupicchu Posted January 13, 2011 Wow im glad you like it!! There is a little photo manipulation involved, i hope this is allowed in the photo contests. I Photo is mirrored and then mirrored again, i though it was quite acceptable for this particular theme. Feel free to try my idea with any of your shots, just vote me up cuz i though of it first! haha Quote Link to comment
keydiver Posted January 14, 2011 even with the mirroring, you can see the awesomeness of the OP Quote Link to comment
Machupicchu Posted January 14, 2011 OP? Original Photograph? Ya the original is now my wallpaper, i find that if you under expose the image by up to 2 steps in some photos you can get very clean backgrounds and then lighten the subject. Also if you have a DSLR with metering options, shoot in spot metering and it will meter the focus point higher than the rest of the image giving the same type of effect. Quote Link to comment
jfarabaugh Posted January 14, 2011 You would be surprised what most could come up with in photoshop for these contest but I thought were not suppose to photoshop our photos for this contest any more than the standard crop and cleanup. If we go down this path it is going to get stupid real fast. Quote Link to comment

Machupicchu Posted January 15, 2011 Totally understandable, i though this might be appropriate for the contest as the post production was kept minimal though... either way no biggie. Quote Link to comment
whitrose02 Posted January 22, 2011 Too photoshop'ed... voting for something real. Quote Link to comment
nanoreef31 Posted January 28, 2011 I agree with whiterose02. I think we need some offical rules moving foward. Quote Link to comment
bdehlin Posted January 28, 2011 I agree with whitrose02 and nanoreef31...we apparently need some rules regarding photoshop in the POTM contest. A contest entitled "symmetry" shouldn't have a winner where someone took a portion of a GSP shot and mirrored it twice...creating symmetry rather than photographing it. Might as well be a photoshop contest. Quote Link to comment
Christopher Marks Posted January 29, 2011 Sorry Machupicchu, this is outside of the scope of the photo contest. I will work on making future contests rules more clear, but I feel I'm going to have to disqualify this one. Quote Link to comment
reef-luva Posted January 31, 2011 "There is a little photo manipulation involved" ...a little huh? Don't get me wrong, it's a great shot of a beautiful coral, but.... Quote Link to comment
