The latest addition - simple arco

This is my test arco. If it does well, I can get more. Simple brownish color overlaid by bright glowing green. Poor picture quality.

acro? That's not an acro whatsoever. That looks like a psammocora or porites.

Octoman. Miss-spelling bad. A-c-r-o is what it should have been. That's what the LFS guy told me it was. It is very hard and feels/looks like a staghorn (I've done a bit of snorkeling and collecting the broken bits/dead stuff...really feels pretty much the same, except this one's alive.) But of course I'm a total noob at this SW aquarium stuff and certainly admit I could be wrong. Picture quality is really poor. My light is only 10000K and rather dull green/yellow. Actinic doesn't work for pics too well either. Anyway, I'll check my reference research sources. Don't want to give it the wrong care.

After a little bit of checking, looks like you may be right. This coral looks more velvety like the poirites. In either case, the care seems to be pretty much the same. Lots of light, good water, with a little microplankton once in awhile. Only difference is flow preference. I'll keep in the stronger range for now and see how it does.

spot on, porites seems to be right. Acros have corallites (round things that hold polyps), that distinguish them from others.
