28 Gallon Aqua Euro Nano 2 x 36 watt, 8 LED lights

Started this tank about 6 months ago. I like it alot. Right now, I have about 35 lbs of live rock, two pacific blue tangs, one yellow tang, one sailfin tang, a flower pot, a super crocea clam, star fish, two clown fish, hermit crabs.

Generally I do a 10% per week water change. I like using Red Sea Coral Pro salt - it disolves really quickly.

I am using an Aqua Euro 1/13 HP chiller, a 100 watt Jager heater, an Aqua Euro Nano Skimmer 2.

Fiction101; Despite what my low post count may suggest, I am FAR from being ignorant and I really don't appreciate your choice of words. So please, back off because chances are my corals will PWN yours! ;)

If you've ever seen pictures of asian fish stores, you'd know that it IS possible to keep a clean tank despite heavy overstocking. Does it make for a happy/healthy fish long-term? No. Do I suggest it? No. But that doesn't mean that anyone deserves a welcome like you guys have displayed. IMO the mods should just close this.

>You really think a 6 month old tank with that bio load would be algae free everywhere?

lol... it could be. My LFS's 180 was setup in 2001. and it barely has any algea.

I feel sorry for the starfish...nothing to eat at all :( . Do you take your rocks out and scrub them cause i would have thought they would have coraline algae on them after 6 months? what are your water params?

I think it looks nice, but have the same concenrs many others have expressed.

On another note, the way people flame on this site is getting rather out or control.

The tank is insanely clean, I am wondering how you keep your sand so clean, with no snails, (that I can see, or you mention) Do share though…

Next, Don’t ya feel bad having so many tangs in a small tank? Your tangs need at least 75 gallons to be happy and healthy… Are u moving these to a larger tank?

What do you feed the star fish, Michelle is right, there is no food.. 

This is a hobby, hence the reason so many people are passionate about research and following guidelines, so just like them flaming ya for your over bioload, and tangs… we can take it the same seeing a tank like this that goes against almost everything shared on this site.

If this tank is really 6 months plus, I am very interested in how you keep it so clean. I know you made fun of some people saying they have nothing better to do, but even with my busy lifestyle, and not so busy times as well, I would have a heck of a time getting the tank this clean, and the rocks and power heads.. How much time u put in this daily?

i have worked at a marine lfs for 3 years...that tank is not 6 months old. try like 6 hours old. you would have at least coraliine growing on those rocks, that starfish would not live six months with sand that shallow and food free. the brain is going to cut himself to pieces on those rocks. people only sound agitated because you are going to kill almost EVERYTHING in that tank. i have seen clean tanks before, but not with bright white rock with zero purple, which means zero time spent in quality, mature water. you have to understand you are committing like every single faux pas in the reefing hobby. and whoever wants to buy the "i scrub the backwall" nonsense, go right ahead. but you know how to tell the difference between a clean, experienced tank, and a brand spanking new one with all of its bioload dumped in at once. or at least you should.

So um, (hehe) what are you feeding your gonioporas? They look AMAZING.

I love the lack of coraline in there, I have always hated that pesky purple stuff, it just takes away from the natural look of the rock in my opinion.

What kind of filter do you have on that thing? Are you running a skimmer? I would think so, being able to keep all of those fish happy in there.

BTW, Don't let these "virgins" attack you for keeping those tangs in that little tank, they are just worried about them getting stressed out and dying from the lack of swimming room, that's all. Of course we wouldn't want that to happen because it would give the coraline food to grow off of.

and when you actually do that first water change, remember to mix the salt water in a separate container, dont just pour water in

followed up with salt

Cassy Tim - the ultimate nano reefkeeper guru. obviously holds a new astounding technique of successful reef tank husbandry. we should all beg to be enlightened by this master.
