Cam198 Posted June 2, 2008 Dude listen to the people on this forum they know more about saltwater tanks than that so called expert tank lady!!! Quote Link to comment
rocketsfan09 Posted June 2, 2008 all this was already cycled in established tanks at her shop for several weeks, with the same water that I am using right now Quote Link to comment
StevieT Posted June 2, 2008 sill not the right way of doing things, no matter what this lady says. A fish tank can NOT be set up in one day, just can't be done sucessfuly with corals and fish together. Enjoy what may come. Quote Link to comment
Clayton07 Posted June 2, 2008 What fun is a hobby if you have someone do everything for you? ....and the wrong way... Quote Link to comment
StevieT Posted June 2, 2008 Just to sum up this experience for you. Tank lady 1 Nano-Reef 35,000..who do you trust more? We are just looking out for the tank, reef geeks don't want a fail, but we like a flame every now and then Quote Link to comment
Laura6686 Posted June 2, 2008 I know you said it was cycled in her tank but I hate to tell you using established water, established live sand and established live rock from an established tank does not mean you will not have to suffer the cycle stage. I have been doing this for over 8 years and on May 30th my new Aquacube arrived. I took all the live rock, fish, water from my 37 gallon and put it in my new aquapod. Just a few days ago I started with the diatoms. Yes, my tank is going through a cycle. So the theory she is teaching you is incorrect. We all have to suffer through it. Me included. :-( Remember she is in business to make money. Even the man who was my mentor confessed to me once that he only makes money when people do not listen to him and their fish die. He makes money when they come back and buy more fish. It would be interesting to see what guarantees she gives you. If stuff dies in your tank does she charge you to replace it? What us flaming - NEVER. Ok maybe a little. We just want you to be successful that is all. We also do not like to see animals suffer. Did you realize you can put a regular non salt water fish in your tank and it will survive for a little bit. It will die but not immediately. Why because the conditions are not right for it. It is a sad thing to watch. Just like that asthma commercial where they took the goldfish out of its tank. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww. Quote Link to comment
xownagex Posted June 7, 2008 wow, a hammer, plate coral, finger leather, an anemone...and gsp..are those duncans on the left? Dude...Like everyone is telling you, cycles are inevitable..you can't avoid it, there are ways to shorten it...but it can't be avoided..seriously, I read up on reefing for 6 months before I ever got a tank...what you need to do is some good research, learn all you can, join a reef club, find a friend who can hold your livestock for you, or take it back to the store you got it from...you're going to end up with a nasty crash and lose everything...
