its to move surface water and the fan is to keep it cool.... Also I had some plants hitchike in my tank, so I took the rocks it overtook and threw them in it, like a mini refugium. It does well though, especially for free

yep, lights are a tad dirty, dont really care how the outside looks, the inside is good.
