My plant snail

this guy was in a planted tank at my LFS and it grew all over him, some (very little) is hair algea, but the rest is actual marine plants on his shell. I'm working on putting a mushroom on another snail, see how that works out.

the hair algae will spread to the rest of your tank if you leave it on that snail.

I own a turbo I call Hippie.

He has 3 inches of hair algae, some cyano, and at least 2 other types of crap.

None of the fish will go near him and he is the only snail the hermits don't harrass.

I've cleaned him off with a brush and 'he' just rolls in more crap.

Seems to work but is kind of nasty.

reefdan, its barely enough hair algae to see, i've had it in their for many months, no outbreak of anything (except more plant stuff, its like he travels and drops pieces.) Again, on the bottom left of the shell in the pic is the small amount of hair algea, the long stuff is MARINE PLANTS (not chaeto, what could it be? i forgot.)

I had a snail that got hair algae all over it, i called him my afro snail or chia pet snail :) Hair algae never was anywhere else in the tank, just on him for 9 months, my ornate wrasse ate him after that though. :(
