pjtech
Hello everyone I need the length of a corallife 20W Mini Compact Fluorescent - 50/50 pic here http://www.thatpetplace.com/Products/KW/F5...0/Itemdy00.aspx The specs say 8" but I need the length from below ballast or right above the screw to the end of the bulb. Your help would be much appreciated. I will be installing it into a 2.5G mini bow hood. And I want to try and fit 1x 20W and 1x 10W. I think it can be done but I need the specs. Thanks Patrick Link to comment

pjtech
Maybe 2x 20 Watts would fit!! Link to comment
pjtech
But is 9" bulb length or length from below screw to end of bulb or from top of screw to end of bulb? Space is so tight I need to be exact. If somone owns one of these please help a brotha out? Link to comment
dweakl01
I would guess, only guess, that since it says product dimensions it includes the screw as well. I'm going to That Fish Place tomorrow. If I think about it, I'll find one and check it out for you. Link to comment
pjtech
I think you are right. Thats a bummer bc 9" wont fit, well back to plan 1 of 2x 10 watts. Thanks for the help. Link to comment
dweakl01
Are you sure a 9" won't fit after its screwed-in? ---> sounds like porn Link to comment
dweakl01
I can find one there tomorrow and let you know. Link to comment
dweakl01
Ok, the TFP link you have says the BULB is 8" and the ESU link I had says the product is 9". The inch must be the screw. Link to comment
pjtech
LOL, it will be very close, I might give it a shot, thx man Link to comment
pet_doc
I own this bulb. It measures 7.5 inches from tip to tip! That is from the bottom of the screw to the tip of the bulb. I don't know where the nine inches is coming from? Maybe if you measured the entire box? Link to comment
pjtech
THANKS pet_doc !! Then I think I can fit 2 in the hood. 40Watts in my 2.5 will be sweet! Link to comment
pet_doc
pjtech: glad I could help:) I agree, that is a sh** ton of light! And I thought that my 20W in a 2.5 would be alot...do you have any plans on sticking a reflector under those lights? Link to comment
pjtech
prob not, with that much light I doubt i will need it Link to comment
pjtech
also it would cover the ventilation holes in the top of the hood and I am thinking w/o a fan I will need as much ventilation as a I can get Link to comment
calvin
you could just paint the interior of the hood white. that would give you some reflection Link to comment
dweakl01
Pet_doc is right...7.5" inches from end to end. I measured it today at TFP. The 10 watt bulbs are about 5.75 inches tip to tip. Link to comment

dweakl01
No problem, post pics of 40 watts kickin' over 2.5 gallons when you get it done. Link to comment
calvin
also keep in mind that with the reflector off you'll get light seeping out through the vent holes. Probably won't be a big deal but thought I would mention it. Link to comment
pjtech
Well I got the 10W and the 20W in there no prob, I am not sure if 2 20W's will fit. It will be a tight squeeze. But 30W in a stock 2.5G bow hood is not bad at all. I will take some pics after a few of the corals open up!! Link to comment
