NanoTrav
I set up my return to the hobby 14g just a few months ago and it got ich with the first fish I put into it. So having to fallow for 76 days I decided to already upgrade to the 20g and turn the 14g into a QT. 5-19-2019 1-27-2019 10-08-2018 Cycle started 6-7-2018 Cycle finished 6-18-2018 Equipment: Tank: Innovative Marine Fusion 20 Light: Nanobox Mini Tide plus M Heater: Cobalt Neo Therm 75w Return: Innovative Marine Might Jet Desktop 326 gph Powerhead: Sicce Voyager Nano Stream 530 (currently not running) Substrate: 20 lbs Arag-Alive Special Grade Rock: BRS dry Rock Filter Media: IM Desktop caddy with floss, chemi-pure blue Back Chamber: 10 Marine Pure spheres 1 Quote Link to comment
Zach W
Nice! I have the same tank and am absolutely loving it so far. You’re scape looks great and I’m digging the open sand bed. Any thoughts on stocking and corals? 1 Quote Link to comment
NanoTrav
I will be taking the corals out from the 14g once I can be sure I won't be bringing ich along with them. I'm thinking encrusting monti's on the top rock. I have a rainbow monti already. Its fairly close to the surface so I don't want to worry about upward growth. I'm thinking shrooms and acans along the bottom of the rock. A duncan. There's a ledge on the right rock column, maybe a green devils hand if I can get a hold of one. And yeah I wanted the tank to be more open this time. For fish a percula first. Can't decide on second. I like Green/yellow clown gobies, firefish, and tailspot blennies. 1 Quote Link to comment
NanoTrav
Cycle ended a few days ago. Did a water change yesterday and added a small Ocellaris. No algae. Maybe because I cycled without lights and all the filter media in. Will add snails when there's something for them to eat. Typical water change. 1 Quote Link to comment
DaveFason
Looks great and have fun with the new setup. I dig the rock work! Quote Link to comment
A Little Blue
I have to agree, scape looks original. 👍 Quote Link to comment

Sometimes I look at it and don't like it anymore but I think everyone probably does that with their scapes. I can't wait to get corals on it. Quote Link to comment
A Little Blue
Don’t change it. I know it’s tempting to move things around but this can turn to a really interesting scape once you add corals. Quote Link to comment

NanoTrav
I got a Bicolor blenny today! My first blenny. He's already found a hole in the rocks to stay in. Eats just fine too. Got him from the "local" fish store and hour away. They had it labeled as a blue and gold but I think it's a bicolor. I will try to get pics tomorrow when the lights are back on. Also finally have diatoms showing up. No more pretty sand. 1 Quote Link to comment
NanoTrav
Overdue Update! There's been some changes. The blenny killed my 2 montis which were doing well :( and he kept knocking over anything else that wasn't glued down. I decided to find him a new home. Had to remove the rock he was in to be able to transfer him so rock scape is changed. After just having the clown for a bit I went to the fish store and they happened to have a yellow clown goby. Hoping he doesn't agitate corals as much as the blenny did. He's definately smaller. I also picked up an emerald crab to see if it can help with green hair algae that I'm battling. I did a water change and some toothbrush scrubbing yesterday and cleaned up 90% of it. Added gfo and reducing lighting also. I don't have time to list my corals but here's the current pic. NanoTrav
1-27-2019 Update. I had lost a little interest in my tank and just let it go other than the weekly water changes and green hair algae battle. I found my yellow clown goby on the carpet 😭. Even with the Fusion mesh top, jumped through the small space on the edge. So Just have my happy little Ocellaris for now. Some corals aren't doing so well. Giant green fuzzy shroom has been shrivaled up into barely anything. Same for acans. My Blue acan was beyond saving, but with some marine snow dosing again I think I have my red acan doing better. Duncan and Goni have been doing well. Blue shroom is big. Can't seem to get my ricordea to do anything. Same size since I got it months ago. Maybe target feed? I want to order corals and macro algae but its waaaaayyyy to cold here to bother. Like -25 cold. I just bought the IceCap Clip-On color filters. Thats what these pictures are taken with. NanoTrav
Coming up on a year and my tank isn't bursting with corals like I imagined but it's ok. There's been some coral losses and carpet surfing fish. With the weather in WI finally warm enough I decided to order a caramel clownfish friend for my occelaris that's been by himself for sometime. Of course gotta order enough to get free shipping so I got a green tip grape coral and a green poccilipora. And a few macro algae. Pocci looks great, much bigger than I thought it would be. But grape coral is very slow to open after 5 days. And wishing I didn't have an emerald crab. Found him on top of it. Sadly caramel clown was on the floor the next morning. Even with IM mesh screen. So disappointing. I was determined to have a second fish so I drove to the only decent fish store and got an orchid dottyback. Trying to keep gaps around screen to a minimum. Here's some pictures. How does the grape coral look 5 days in? Tips for my ricordia? Has stayed the same size for 8 months or so. The plug its on is surrounded by hair algae. Does that inhibit growth? I try to target feed and crab comes and pulls food right out of it's mouth. I was wanting to take it to the store when I went but he was too hard to catch and gave up. Quote Link to comment
