alohaeveryone
Hi Guys, I haven't post here for long. Recently, I started a solar Koi pump and happend to try different DC pumps. This is the best one I have found and now convert my 60 gallon reef tank to DC powered as well. http://amzn.to/29D3yRD for my reef tank, I use a DC voltage controller to control the flow rate, I put it to max 24V 410GPH. for my koi pond, I connected 3 with solar panel without DC to AC inventer. to create 800GPH for my Koi pond just my 2 cents to share. Feel free to ask me if you have questions. Quote Link to comment

StevieT
Unless you live in a shit country with shit voltage, I don't see the appeal of DC pumps. Quote Link to comment

I am planning to hook up and Arduino to control the current after I add one more pump in the tank. I like to DIY That's the reason I want to go with DC Quote Link to comment

alohaeveryone
Battery power... In my case, I go with solar, connect to a 2 x 100W panels for 5 pumps total .. now is 2 for the reef tank and 3 for the koi pond. the main reason I do this is to avoid a Inveter to convert DC to AC Quote Link to comment
