Reefer_Buddha
thats a bit much for a 30g id go with 2 175w. Also depends on tank height and what you plan to keep in it. Link to comment

Undertheradar
I used to have a 400wattSE over my 60 gallon cube, recently however, I discovered that the 250wattDE bulbs have almost the same output...and now I use two over the 60 gallon cube (24"cubed)...one 20,000K, the other 10,000K, side by side. I would consider the minimum for a pair of double ended bulbs to be a 50 or 65 gallon breeder. The min for a pair of single ended 250watters would be a 40 gallon (breeder or long) IMO.
