DAP
I really want to use an aquaclear 500 for my new 7g, I will be using it as a "fuge", and to hold the heater etc. I know it will fit, but will it cause a major sand storm. Especially because I am planning on using southdown, for a 1" sand bed. IIRC cant you slow the flow down a little by sliding the intake tube? THanks Link to comment
Littleoceans
Hey Dap.... I have a 300 on mine and I use a 150 prop on it... works great and I don't have to use a powerhead... Link to comment
Crakeur
on the smaller hob filters you can slow the flow down but I'm not sure if the flow will be slow enough. why not just get the small cpr aquafuge? it fits on the back of a 7, has room for a heater and is designed to be a fuge. Link to comment
DAP
I would love to have the cpr aquafuge, but this is a "budget" 7g bowfront, for my office. Just one fish, some mushrooms, GSP, small leather etc. Basically frags or unwanted coral from my 20g. And a place for my Blastomussa, which is dieing under the bright MH, and I dont have any shade in my 20. I am still contemplating what to do........... Link to comment
c_k_kuehne
I use a AQ 200 in my 7 minibow w/ only moderate sand shifting. I did put a piece of LR up front in the middle to divert some of the flow from shifting some sand. I probably would have gone a 300 but figured the 200 was enough in a 7 gal. Link to comment
MattGecko
I also have the AQ300 (fuge) w/150 impeller (no powerhead) & it works great!! Link to comment
