Will this do for an above tank Refuge

Hi everyone...

I have an old above tank filter box, would this be ok for an above tank refuge...

This is the Backside of the old filter box, you can see the clear plastic pipe for the water to go back into the tank.

As long as it wouldn't drain down in a power outage,it'd work fine .

Yes its waterproof as it used to be an above tank filter, the pump that came with it eased altogether, but i kept the box because i knew that i would use it for something else later on.

Yeah i was thinking about that too so i'll put a small bulkhead before the drainage pipe keep the sand from flowing out too.
