Just some info I found for all those that complain that MH are too much. Now if you don't like DIY, just stop reading now. Otherwise check it:

Ballast - $18.50+12 dollars shipping

Bulb 10k Good par - 32.50+12 shipping

Reflector and power cord - 34 dollars plus shipping

Now granted you have to retrofit it, but your corals won't know the difference if you hang it like a pendant.

shipping comes to about 30-35 bucks, but for 115 shipped you have Enough Metal halide for almost any nano.

This is in case anyone wanted to spend cash for a 2x65 retro or a 96 watt power quad.

Jahkaya- Your really can't quote the prices on the ballast and bulb. They are current prices on ebay... and everyone knows those prices will change in the last 10min of the sale, but I do agree you can find cheaper MH by shopping around.. LO

The ballast is magnetic, but it is all self enclosed and in one piece. I like this as it is easy enough to wire myself and there are no capacitors. you can't get a cheap electronic for less than 80-100 dollars.

Little both sellers on Ebay have these items rather consistently. The Sun 10k are always there and as for the ballasts he has a similar price on the 250's. realistically you could have a 250 for almost the same price. I just feel that if someone is going to spend 100-150 shipped for a PC and doesn't mind DIY that this is a better route to go.

Do realistically you could get a 2x250 complete setup for less than $0.50 a watt.

not too bad.
