ReefNewbie
I received my LR today and have just finished setting it up in my 38 gallon tank. I am getting ready for the cycle, and was wondering if I should turn my hang on back protein skimmer on or keep it off during the cycle? Any opinions? Link to comment
KrackerG
i always been told to keep it off during the cycling process because it will be taking things out of the water that you actually want to have.... Link to comment
birdman204
I would run it depending on how fresh the live rock was. if there is a lot of life on it, I would definatley run a skimmer. In this case, wait a bit longer before stocking your tank... If the rock is dead as a door nail, let the ammonia and nitrite spikes take care of themselves. remember, its not just good things in dying rock. sponges are toxic, and you sure as hell dont want that in the tank while "trying" to increase the microfauna population.
