I bought me some steves leds and his single driver to give it a go. This is a single string of 4 LEDS @ 700mA and dimmable. The control box has the driver and fan and ATO built into it.

LED Light

4 x 3W emmitors from StevesLeds

1 x 700 mA dimmable driver from StevesLeds w/ pot for dimming

19V laptop power supply @ 3.2A

heatsink and Fan combo for a processor

Some wire and switches and some stanard LEDs

the base and legs off of a picotope light

9V @ 500mA wallwart for fans and ATO

the fan off of an old video card

I tried to gut the pictotope light and find a heatsink for it but with a fan it just looked hokey and i didnt like the look at all.

ATO

White outlet square

9V relay

NPN power transistor (i can read the package lol build it out of the junk box)

project box.

The ATO is just a relay controlled by the float switch. The relay switches the 110 for an air pump the air pump force the water into the tank.

Lights of pic comming right up.

LEDS and Driver 30$

fans heatsink and walwart 15$

Laptop power supply 10$

Random radioshack crap 25$

80$ total probably more because it wasnt about cost rather just for the fun of the DIY

the are actually 8500K I am doing a planted freshwater tank but because the picotope is a common pico reef (it was one for me up until we moved) I thought an LED build for the stock light would be suited here. I did originaly plan to do it as a reef but the boss said no... ON that note The original set up called for two driver for seperate channel dimming and 5 not 4 LEDs for blending
