GreyFox
29 gallon Tall, 24x12.5x23 10 gallon diy refug diy pvc overflow to refug Maxi-jet 1200 return pump 2x koralia 2 power heads 2213 eheim canister filter 100 watt heater 30lb live rock in sump 10lb sand in sump 35lb live rock in tank 25lb sand in tank chaetomorph in refug custom diy led pendants 12cw 12rb running at 700 ma. Tank is set up from a 55 gallon (mostly fish with a colony of zoas) the 55 has been around for about 15 months. this is a picture of my 29 gallon long tank which i had before a terrible incident with a copper fitting happened. almost everything had to be scrapped, i saved the corals that i could as well as my old anemone which is starting to show signs of recovery under new led lighting. Tank livestock 1x metalic green brain 1x small colony of green blastos 4x small mushroom colonies of different types 2x feather dusters 1x small colony of green star polyps 1x colony of zoas( not sure of the type) 3x bta's 1 is a split of the other, and one is a survivor from the disaster. 1 clown wrasse (im aware of adult size) 1 ocellaris clown 1 percula clown 1 coral beauty angel fish 1 pajama cardinal 1 Black ribbon eel 2 cleaner shrimp 1 blood shrimp 1 emerald crab bunch of hermit crabs romping around the tank and refug After the accident, i opted for the 29 tall as it was the only tank i had as a replacement for the now ruined 30gallon long i had. copper is a terrible thing . to set up the new 29 tall, i used some live rock and live sand and water from my 55 gallon tank. This really helped with the cycling of the tank. Before reusing my refugium i gave it a very thorough cleaning, as well with all the other parts that were used in the old tank. I Threw out all the old rock and sand that was ruined and replaced it with new live rock and sand from my lfs. this is my only picture i have of my tank during the transition to a refugium and the inevitable crashing of the tank. this is the first picture of the new 29 tall before adding more live rock everything was just starting to adjust to the new tank at this point. this is a picture of my tank currently. Everything is almost back to normal. Zoa colony is growing well. Blastos are growing and producing more of themselves. octo bubbles are almost back to full size. and my green star polyps are nice and healthy again. all i can really say is that my salt water tank was a very valuable learning experience, and i know that i will never make the same mistakes that i made in the past. So far i am very happy with how my tank has turned out. through all the trouble and what not i think it was worth it just to get where i am now. led lights are proving their worth by giving my bta's there bubbly ness back. GreyFox
more pictures of my setup the metallic green brain has been doing very well so far. the btas are starting to shown signs of coloration again. They have started to regain some pink in the tips of their tentacles.( i think that's a good sign?) the new percula clown checking out mushrooms the blastos are doing well. I am not entirely sure were i should place them but they seem to be doing well in the sand so i have kept them there. lots of stuff second octo bubble and gsp hermit crab romping through the zoa's and my coral beauty looking around for some food. this is my refug. With chaeto live rock and sand. Lots of cope-pods living in the refug and lastly my diy overflow. Very easy to make Link to comment

GreyFox
almost 2 weeks with led lighting and i have already noticed more growth or expansion from my corals. I recently added an anemone from my 55 gallon as the larger one split into 2. I wanted to see how the led lighting would match up to my 150w metal halide. So far the split under leds has done very well, The Bubbly ness has somewhat come back to the anemone but its still rather spread out. My gbta which recently split is also doing well. The split is starting to form a new mouth and the other has much nicer bubbly tentacles to it. Both Octo Bubbles have expanded about 10-20%. I also moved the blastos up higher next to my colony of zoas. They seem to be doing just as well as they were before. My zoa's are getting a much nicer purple color around the green. When my tank first crashed the color turned to brown and looked terrible. They are starting to regain a much nicer color then i could remember . My mgb has a much more full look to it as well without looked completely bloated and football esq. top down view gives a much better representation of its all around size then just a front view i think the mushroom colonies have all responded well. They are a fair bit larger then before i used leds. Link to comment
GreyFox
oh who's that being a sneaky eel he be a nice shot of him Link to comment
Markushka
Is that eel in the last pic a black ribbon eel? I've considered getting one but i'd read they are impossible to get eating in captivity. How is yours doing? He is the one that morphs to blue and then yellow? Rhinomuraena quaesita right? Link to comment
GreyFox
I had no trouble getting this guy to start eating. I did have trouble getting him out of the live rock to put him in my tank tho XD. I am not quite sure if this morphs into the blue ribbon eel but if it is then i am going to be very happy. It was given to me by a friend who worked at a lfs so all i really know about it is that it was called a black ribbon eel . I have read that blue ribbon eels smaller stages are when they are black in color. This guy is only about 8-10" in length so i assume hes still very young. His head doesn't really resemble a more mature black ribbon eel so this is where i'm unsure of its proper name. A little help with identifying him would be awesome The head shape is much less slender then a regular ribbon eel. Its more shaped like a snow flake eel i guess. I also have a ghost ribbon eel and a snow flake eel . I'll have to get pictures of those two Link to comment
GreyFox
A recent problem caused a slight change in rock work. One of my anemones had gone exploring over the last week, not harming anything until now surprisingly. It recently moved right onto a rock above my gsps. Needless to say they were buried by the anemone so i had to change it up. Personally i think it looks much nicer now this is the anemone. Looking really nice tho compared to how it used to be. Much more color in its base. The other anemone is the split from my 55 gallon. The anemone in the 55 gallon has already split into 2 again. zooooo blastos this guy recently fell so hes not looking so good. Hopefully he will be back to full size by the end of the day my new moon brain you can see the one split of the other moving anemone was on the move as well. I'll have to get it out of the back someday but it seems happy and gets enough light it seems. Link to comment
