My JBJ nano-cube 6

I have been a long time reader, and this is my first post about my nano reef.

 

I began this tank about 1 year ago, and it was quite different than it is now.

 

Set-up:

JBJ nano-cube 6

Factory installed 18 watt 50/50 power compact fluorescent lamp

100 watt heater

Bredler's Refugium Mod

12 lbs live rock

6 lbs of coarse aragonite

 

Temp ~ 90 deg F

Spec. Grav ~ 1.024

That's all I know, no test kits

 

Livestock:

1 nasarius snail

1 under gravel snail (yet unnamed)

2 black hermit crabs

4 teeny tiny white legged hermit crabs

2 red fuzzy mushroom polyps

1 yellow sponge

"Xenia" for lack of better identification (hitchhiker)

1 peppermint shrimp (had for 2 weeks)

 

New additions not pictured:

5 polyps red closed brain

25 polyps zoanthids with little orange centers

 

Current tasks that I'm wrestling with:

Too damn much green hair algae

I pluck out a bristle worm every week but they are good evaders

WTB a Nano Cube protein skimmer

Some fun facts about me:

I worked at a LFS in Boulder while I had a nice 50 gal setup. Now I'm in medical school in Portland and this is a new challenging side-hobby for me.
