Mr. Microscope
I have noticed that my LV has aquired patches of white on them. Is there such a thing as white coralline? NH3, NO2, NO3 all 0s. I checked my Alk today and it is a little low 5.4-6.4 range. My pH is constantly at 8.3-8.4. However, I am checking it at the same time everyday. I run chaeto in the fuge. The light is on 14 hours. Do you think this might be a pH issue. Should I move some chaeto in to the tank too? ..or it this completely unrelated to pH/Alk? hmm..perhaps i should put thin in the beginner's forum... Tinytank
Do you have an emerald crab by chance? Link to comment
carbon-mantis
It's probably dead coralline algae. How new is the rock? I always have 60-70% of the coralline die off whenever I add new rock, or even if I change the light/exposure. Link to comment
Mr. Microscope
I have no crabs. What causes coralline to die? I have not changed the light exposure. Rock has been there all along. Link to comment

Mr. Microscope
why 2 threads?http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?...p;#entry2563403 I put it in the ID forum first, but then I thought that it was probably more of a beginners question so I posted it there instead. I figured that the ID forum probably pertains more to living stuff as opposed to dying stuff. Sorry for the faux pas. Link to comment
