Nickeleye
According to this article, it is not a good salt mix for the development of larvae, at least urchins as test subjects. Coralife and IO tested high in mortality rates, containing toxic levels in several metals including copper. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-03/...ature/index.php Interesting they only point out IO and Coralife. What about all the others? Hmm? Link to comment

MillerLite
Oceanic for me. It is great salt.Everyone else can keep there Instant ocean and the crap reef crystals. All I have to say is monitor your alkalinity carefully...high calcium levels in low alk wont do much for you. Lots of tanks including my own had an alk crash using that salt. Could be shotty maintenance or just the salt..hard to say for sure.. Link to comment

Coralife and IO tested high in mortality rates, containing toxic levels in several metals including copper. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-03/...ature/index.php That was a very good article, although very dry and lengthy. I use the scientific grade coralife salt and it only says that they tested coralife salt. Does anyone know if there is a difference? Did coralife switch salts since 2003? And the only reason why I use coralife is that my LFS uses it on all of their tanks for years with great results. And after a little browsing on reef central i found this helpful little article. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.p...mp;pagenumber=1 And compared to other mixes coralife has some pretty good numbers, and its reasonably priced Edit: I can't spell Link to comment
Mr. Thingdoer
My vote is SeaChem Reef Salt....I'm only one. +4 The single best improvement i've noticed so far is switching to Seachem Reef. I only switched because Oceanic was completely worthless. The Alk/Cal was far too wacky. I just don't understand the logic behind this. Link to comment
