The Newport Aquarium's Mobile Shark Tank!

For the first time, The Newport Aquarium will be at the Cincy Reef Frag Swap. Come talk with the wonderful marine biologists from the aquarium and see their shark!

Also, the best local vendors will be here to sell you quality frags, equipment, invertebrates and more!

Stay around all day for our awesome raffle at the conclusion of the swap; featuring items from our club sponsors and other industry-leading vendors and manufacturers.

Most importantly, and best of all, lots of hobbyists from all around will be here to buy, sell, and trade with you coral frags propagated in their own tanks! Even fish, invertebrates, equipment, and more will show up!

If you're in the area (or otherwise), it's well worth a drive. This is a great event all about a lot of reef-loving aquarists getting together to support eachother... so you'll find great deals from great people. It is also, perhaps, the BEST enviornment to learn about the hobby. It's lot's of fun! You'll be sure to leave smiling and with a cooler full of frags!

Be sure to bring your coral to trade!!!

Awesome Can't wait. So for someone coming 2 hours away what would you suggest we bring with us to transport frags back home? Cooler? Ice packs?Heat Packs?

I would say a styrofoam cooler or, better yet, a Playmate picnic cooler (or something like that) should provide enough insulation to keep everything at a decent temperature. It's always hard to judge Cincinnati weather in early October... some days are freezing and others can feel like the middle summer. I've used the same Playmate-brand cooler every swap and it insulates VERY well. I've never had to use a heat or cool pack. Most people bring the cheap styrofoam coolers that always seem to work well too.

I'm glad you're coming... spread the word!

It will be worth the drive... we are really working hard to make this our best swap ever. Where are you coming from twelve volt pro?

Coming from Fort Wayne, IN. Just a jump on the old toll road and a straight shot more or less. I did forget that its the same weekend we are planning on being at Cedar Point for our wedding anniversary, so I dunno how feasible its going to be to make it there. Time will tell I suppose.

I am marking my calendar......I am new to Nano reefing and have no frags to swap

I live across the river from good ole Rabbit Hash, KY. I will really have to save $$$$$$ for the swap because 2 weeks after I go to Wiener Dog Fest in NYC if I can afford the airfare out of CVG.

I hope you guys can make it. Good ol' Rabbit Hash :).

There will be lots of vendors there with PLENTY of coral... not to mention all of the hobbbyists bringing lots of thier own stuff. This is probably the best place to buy a bunch of frags to fill a new tank... it's what I did several years ago to fill mine. Unfortunately I'm in the market for lots of frags as well... we moved in January and my tank apparently didn't handle it too well and all but totally crashed about a month after I set it up at the new house. Then, just 2 weeks ago, my heater malfunctioned and brought my tank up to 90. I'm not sure for how long it was that high, as I was hardly home the week it happened, but it was long enough to kill most of the few recovering corals I had left. So I'm itchin' for frags too!

Thanks for spreading the word... we're advertising this earlier than ever and working hard to make this swap our best yet.

Did you hit Premium Aquatics up for a donation?

Link to comment

I'm sure PA has been contacted. They make a donation every year and host powerbuys for our club.

Glad you can make it! You'll fill up that Solana, no problem .

^Bummer. Too bad you can't make it... but there are some excellent fish stores out in California. Maybe next year.

If anyone needs additional information about the swap, don't hesitate to post your questions here or send me a PM. Keep checking this thread, as well. I will update it with info and confirmed vendors and raffle items.
