GentleBen
I know most of you are going to get on me for going to fast, but notice the water paramaters have been stable the whole time. GentleBen
These are going to be the last additions for at least a month. The six line wrasse is the last fish addition. I wanted to get all the fish I'm planning on keeping in the tank as soon as possible so they can all stake out their territories. The wrasse has stirred things up a bit but no one is getting overly aggressive. What a fascinating hobby! I'm sure glad I finally had the guts to try salt water. Only took 56 years. Added Six Line Wrasse “Lulu”: 04-28-09 Added Rose Colony Polyps 04-28-09 Added Green Flower Pot Coral 04-28-09 Link to comment

GentleBen
Bummer, had my first fish lose, found my Yellow Watchman Goby had gone carpet surfing over night. He was the last one I would have picked for such behavior. He has never been anywhere near the top of tank. I guess adding the six line wrasse yesterday had something to do with it. He did take over the Goby's home. RIP "Max" Link to comment
gena
I'm so sorry to hear that about Max Isn't it the worst feeling to find them all crusty on the ground?! I found a sexy shrimp last weekend that went missing about 2 months ago. I was messing around behind the stand and there she was I felt awful! On a happy note...your tank looks beautiful Link to comment
GentleBen
Yea it't funny how you can become attached to these silly fish. I never noticed that as much with fresh water fish. Oh Well, Max II is being acclimated as we speak. Link to comment
GentleBen
Yellow Watchman Goby went carpet surfing 04-29-09 Replaced Yellow Goby 04-29-09 Added Emerald Crab 04-29-09 5 Gallon water change: 04-30-09 Params are still zero ammonia and nitrites with 10PPM Nitrates, acceptable for such a new tank I think. Max II Emerald crab wasted no time getting to work. Link to comment
Kraylen
Dude that flowerpot looks bad. I hope you know what to do. Look into a oyster egg based food you can target feed with after killing your flow. Im keeping 2 flowerpots and am having incredible growth from both of them. My pink is beginning to twin nub to so it can branch off. Link to comment
GentleBen
After losing two YWG's in as many weeks from jumping out of the tank I decided it was time to make a screen top. Nothing new here, I read about making the screen top on this forum. Didn't bother to do a DIY thread, if you can't figure this out you have no business around sharp objects. I was worried it would cut to much light but still seems plenty bright. I really liked the open top look but this isn't bad, I actually like the new look. Link to comment
bruce922
I like the screen top you made, it looks just like mine. Your tank looks great also. Bruce Link to comment
GentleBen
I added a yellow head jaw fish a week ago and he is just great. A very interesting, fun fish to watch. I keep waiting for all my rock to come crashing down but so far so good. Ordered a six piece mushroom nano pack and a 6 piece small polyp pack from Aquacon. I sure wish I would have bothered to type that name in this forum before I ordered. I did a least receive my order in a timely fashion but the specimens are a very poor quality as the enclosed pics will attest to. Sure not worth the $200 I spent. As many people have said on this forum stay away from that company. Last but not least I brought home my last fish today, a Flame Angel. I know I'm taking a chance but so far a great addition to the tank. [attac hment=59398:SN850221.JPG] Link to comment
GentleBen
Darn, I lost my flame angel yesterday. I sure wish I had a clue as to why some fish make it and some don't. So far I have lost 2 six line wrasses in addition to the flame. It's always the same, look good first day with normal behavior, little lethargic second day, dead the third. Possibly new tank syndrom (tank is 55 days old), but then why are my yellow tail damsel, clown and yellow head jaw fish thriving? I'm going to try leaving the tank as is for a month and then try adding that last fish. Link to comment
GentleBen
Just a couple more pics, some minor rearranging. Just love the new jawfish, highly recommended if your rock work is solid. Link to comment
GentleBen
I finally have a stable fish population. I decided to try a six line wrasse one more time and it is doing great. I'm glad I tried again as he is a great addition, the perfect fish for swimming around the rocks. I have ended up with a yellow tail damsel, Ocellaris clown, yellow head jaw fish, six line wrasse and yellow watchman goby. I really like the mix, makes for an interesting tank to watch. I just added a fox coral yesterday, thought I would try a video this time in place on pics. The lights had only been on a hour so nothing has opened up much. Link to comment

Wow, someone actually posted something on my tank thread. Screen was real easy, purchased everything from Home Depot for under $20. Took about 15 minutes to make. Link to comment
