HankB
Hi folks, This is a colony about 1/4" across on some new LR. If it matters, the LR also has some aiptasia. In my tank thread another member has IDed it as a hydra and "not bad." I've found some info on hydroids and they are generally described as bad. Is there a difference between hydra and hydriod and if so, how can I confirm an ID one way or the other. thanks, hank Link to comment
GoingPostal
Those look like bad hydroids to me, take the rock out and cover them in superglue or epoxy before they spread. Link to comment
Stephen-in-Va
Better yet... Take the rock out and steam or boil it for 30 minutes. If the super glue or epoxy covering doesn't work you do not want these things in your tank. Steaming and boiling is the only sure fire way to get rid of these pests 100% IMO. Link to comment
fellbeast
I took the rock out and torched the f'ers off. They were smaller though. I thought they were some kinda tube worm, until I found they were stinging my mushroom. Link to comment
