Salt Mix

Ok so i know there are tons of threads on this... but i want a clear response. Which mix is the best considering that IO and Reef Crystals is getting the Chinese torture. B)

Just small answers! Just state the mix and why it's good! -_- I don't like to dose anything in my 14 gallon cause of it's small size. So which is pretty much stable and reliable? Good levels. Maybe i will dose like magnesium or calcium for the corals or strontium but not stuff like ph or alkalinity or the major things.

The Only Thread with the RIGHT ANSWER on Salt Mixes. :)

Choices:

Tropic Marine ( Can't seem to find at stores though)

IO, Reef Crystals(If getting the China treatment is just a rumor)

Oceanic ( Low alkalinity?)

Coralife ( I have seen it everywhere anyone use it? Any good?)

Seachem

Kent

Marine Enterprises(Very rare to find in stores though might be good?)

OceanPure

Red Sea

------------------------------------------------------

That should be of them... named some mediocre ones too but whatever.

wow

I'm afraid to ask questions now!

That's a whole lotta flame!

 just some friendly humor.

Besides, if you've never been flamed, you've never been truly welcomed to NR :)

You've missed some good salts from your list. Tropic Marin and Red Sea both have a "PRO" version that is superior to the regular version (higher Mg and Ca IIRC).

Well, just for giggles I will respond to this thread.

Over the years I have tried just about every salt there is that is available in the U.S.A.

I dont know which is the best, but I do have little story.............

When I used the Marine enterprises Crystal Sea, I would break out in a red burning rash whenever I would put my hands/arms in the water for more than a minute. This occured wether it was in the mixing/holding bucket or in the tank.

I have had my hands/arms in the other salts for extended period of times and never had a problem.

I have swam in different oceans before and never have this phenomenon occur.

There is something in their salt that isn't in the other salt mixes.

I've recently had problems with both regular Tropic Marin and Red Sea Pro.

Oh no.

What problems?

I am just starting my tank and have chosen Tropic Marine Pro for my salt.

I am thinking of switching overy myself. Little for me, little for my fish tank. It's a win win situation.

You really should listen to me more often.

In my next tank I'm going to use gravel from my driveway as a subtrate.
