RP Beesh
this is my first attempt to build a fish stand. it was hard to find a diy stand page so hope this will help ppl that want to try a diy stand. Diy frame of fish stand using 2x4. total cost. 5x(2x4) glue and nail=around 20 buck This is what I used on this project. Clamps Nails Wood glue Table saw Miter saw Put glue in every joint the more the better. Step 1. design your frame. Step 2. determine how much wood you need Step 3. determine how many cuts you need So that would be four pieces 4xgreen 4xpink 4xorange 4xblue step 4. cut the pieces ½” longer (I called this a pre cut) step 5. I use the table saw to ripped the sides( some of the 2x4 aren’t straight) so this will straight it out for you step 6. take the set of green pieces and clamp it together so that the base would be flush to the miter saw surface. this would ensure clean exact cut from all 4 piece. Than do it to the other sets step 7. start putting together the top and base frame clamp the two pieces to a level flat surface like my table saw When clamping make sure the sides of the 2x4 is flush to the level surface These insure no movement with screwing the two pieces together. Do it to the rest of the sides Step 8. clamp the pieces and let it set step 9. putting the legs together. Clamp the top the level surface than put the leg flush against the surface and the wood than clamp it do it on the last 3 leg flip it over and do the other sides this is what it should look when the legs are attached to the top and base frame step 10. putting the orange piece to the frame. than make sure it is level Link to comment

BigB
I bult a stand for my 55gal and i really over built it. I used 2x4s for the top and bottom frames and 4x4's for the posts. Miter jointed the top frames connected with L joint brackets and glue. Layed on top fo the 4x4's. Kinda like a picture frame. For the top and bottom frames. Then layed a 1inch peice of oak table top and screw it into the frame. Came out awsome. with 40inch Open bottom area. I have a 55gal on top and a 29gal on the bottom. i stained it all black. Looks really nice. I would go with stain and semi gloss, it will look awsome Link to comment
