Zoa Yawning?

is this post an inquiry as to this behavior, or is it just a simple observation?

are you referring to the actual mouth of the palythoa pictured, or are you referring to the action of the polyp opening as "yawning?"

zoa and paly's will release wastes by opening thier mouth, and this is usually accompanied by a visible dark colored discharge. both also invert during nighttime or low light and are referred to as "closed." they will reopen when exposed to a bright enough stimuli in order to expand their zooxanthellae covered photosynthetic discs.

pretty sure thier button polyps :)

button polyps are the common name for zoanthus and similarly structured corals, are they not?
