Okay,

Now that I got your attention check this out!

I am doing a water change on our 25 gallon display tank, I remove our 200 micron filter sock and attached are some bristle worms!

Ahh, I think cool I'll go PLACE THEM IN MY TEMPERATE PICO!

They should snack on this worm. So as I approach the tank, the Sculpin, Gunnel and the Catalina Goby get excited, they always know when it's feeding time.

Bristle worm gets dropped in and starts sinking, Catalina goby is first to show up looks at it while it's dropping and says no way, he literally reaches it and turns away!

The bristle worm makes it to the tentacle of the aggregating anemone, and so he immediately pulls it in and it's curtains for the bristle worm! Anemone just engulfs it to his other stinging arms!

Cool, so I drop in the second worm and the Dumb gunnel goes to it and swallows it whole, OH MY GOD! HE STARTS TURNING IN CIRCLES LIKE A DEATH ROLE FROM A CROCODILE SCENE!

HE IS TRYING TO SPIT IT OUT AND CAN'T, I AM LIKE SH@# I HAVE KILLED MY GUNNEL! THE GUNNEL IS UPSIDE DOWN AND LOOKS DEAD, I WAS SO SAD!

THEN THE GUNNEL STARTS COMING BACK TO LIFE AND GOES TO ONE CORNER OF THE TANK AND SHUTS DOWN FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, BREATHING HEAVY THEN SLOWER.

I THINK THE BRISTLE WORM STARTED STINGING HIS THROAT BUT AS THE COLD WATER FINALLY KILLED OFF THE WORM, THE GUNNEL WAS ABLE TO REGAIN COMPOSER.

So, don't experiment on your poor fish, I just never had two ecosystems in one room, I literally shouldn't cross species like that, I might create a mutation... :o

Just thought I'd share how strong these bristle worms are!

Oh yeah, the anemone later opened up, but you could see that the area that the bristle worm entered left small scars, a tribute that our Warm Water cousins will not give up without a fight..

Ding Ding, till next round!

Its weird that the fire worms cold water cousins have no stinging cells on there bristles, they just use them to dig. Thanks for the heads up Mike hahaha

Those gunnles are tuff nuts! The local fish shop we set up our 300 gal display in uses the anemones as a garbage disposal for dead fish, there are piles of fish bones under each one and it makes me laugh Because we have only lost fish due to other fish eating them! Long live the darkside of reefing!

Josh,

I think that we should officially name Temperate side (Dark side of the force) and the Tropical side (Jedi order) What do you think?
