Oceanus
I'd definitely wait before adding anything else, be it a crab or shrimp. 2.5mo is really young for that bioload. Link to comment
saltwaternoob
yeah thats true.... im looking for stuff more like filters media, simple sumps, refug , something that will make my tank better maybe some ideas on how to arrange my rocks Link to comment

violinist
Those pictures all taken at the same time? The nem is in three different spots. Tank doesn't look like the toilet you made it out to be. Get more snails, get a magfloat to clean the glass. Link to comment
fishieCJ
Clean the glass , get more snails yadd yadda yadda just do what he^^ says Link to comment
saltwaternoob
nope... and to the vilonist they were all taken the same day not same time what do you think of my tank? Link to comment
ReefEscape
I think time is the best thing you can give your tank at this point. The best thing I did was just let things grow out for 3 months without adding anything new that would increase my bioload. If you want to add K-1 you could, but it probably won't hurt or help at this point (more flow is always better). It helped me to eliminate dead spots and stopped cyano from growing on the sand and rocks. If you go open top, add a sump with a refugium or try to grow cheato in one of your back chambers for a way to control nitrates (it could be a problem with the waste that 4 fish will produce in a 28 gal tank). Make sure that you never miss a water change and test regularly to control any spikes in nitrate, phosphate or ph. Link to comment
Mojorizn
1) +1 on the snails / Mag Float. 2) Time 3) I was gonna say corals, but with that Flame Angel, your gonna need to be VERY selective. Beautiful fish, but very picky...picky on corals that is. Your results may vary. Link to comment
saltwaternoob
thanks yeah i thnk thats just what ill do, i think i might just add more snails for now! how many and of what type would you recomned? im thinking on returning or selling my flame angel any opinion on what fish i should get instead? Link to comment
Mojorizn
Variety of snails, how bout 10 to start? that's a good round number Nassarius are cool / cerinth / maybe a Turbo or two just for kicks. Avoid Margarita snails. They are not tropical, they are cold water snails and will die slowly...just an FYI. Asteras are ok, imo..I just got tired of turning them back over. I say ditch the Flame and get some Zoas. Link to comment

ZOMG go ready and goto reefcleaners.org .. about 10 hours ago these were suggested and you still question people instead of doing your own research. Possibly after you have actaully followed advice from the 2 pages that violinist wrote already you will pickup some knowledge and be able to make a cohesive informed decision. GO READ DO RESEARCH.. compare what you have in your tank VS recommended basic CUC from Reefcleaners.... in another thready (i am way to sick to spend the time finding it) you asked what peoples problem with your tank was.. I have zero issue with your tank .. but the more you post here wanting everyone to tell you exactly what to get how to do things etc the more I truely think your to ill prepared to manage an environment like this. You need more time and more research.. GO READ and educate yourself.. when you dont understand something ask for help with that specific issue not the hobby in general.. I am sorry this is turning into a rant but enough is enough IMO .. i wont post again until he actually does something for himself. Link to comment

ajmckay
Hey swnoob. Well, I think that your tank looks nice overall. You've got some interesting pieces of rock in there as well. There are a few things that concern me though. Would you agree that saltwater aquariums have a learning curve? I personally believe that they do. To overcome this, I recommend to beginners that they start off very simple and as they gain more experience they can add more difficult and exotic species. Some things I like: -Your rock work -Your clownfish -Your tank choice (the biocubes seem to be popular) -Your willingness to learn Some things I suggest you re-evaluate: - Too many fish IMO. The amount of waste created by these 4 fish should require minimum 25-50% water changes weekly to remove waste. 10-20% won't cut it IMO. Of course you can test, but my guess is the amount of algae you have in the tank in a few months will be a clear indication you need to step it up a notch. - The starfish and anemone should only be considered once you've gained sufficient experience in the hobby. They're difficult to care for. The anemone should settle in within a few days or so. If it's moving around that's not a good sign. They might be doing fine for now, but who knows how long that will last. Go and research these animals to decide if you're willing to provide the proper care. If not, sell them or return them to the store and buy some more appropriate livestock. - If you're looking for a beneficial clean up crew, I would get a diversity of snails. A few astreas, no more turbos or nassarius, maybe some cerith, nerite, or trochus. Avoid specialty snails and conch's etc. for now. - Research all of your purchases before you make them. No exceptions. - Do your own research and only after that post questions (make sure they are specific and detailed enough for people to help you). If you don't understand something or if someone doesn't explain himself or provide rationale, ask for clarification/proof. - What kind of skimmer do you have? - Can you post your maintenance schedule? What's your feeding schedule? - Use quality water. If you don't want to buy your own water filtration unit (Reverse osmosis) at least buy the water by the gallon. People have used distilled just fine, but I think you'll be surprised at how many places actually carry RO water. Anyways, I hope this has been helpful. I think that time will help your tank more than anything. Get a good solid livestock selection and some good, hardy corals and then let everything mature and grow. That will be much more satisfying than trying to stock the tank with everything on your wish list and then risking overloading the tank and making it so unstable that even a small power outage could cause a major crash resulting in dead livestock. Good luck. Link to comment
