I have had a rock wall for some time now, and I really didn't like it all that much. So last night with the help of my little brother we tor down the tank and put it all back together gain, minus about 20-25 lbs of LR.

It's a 20H, it's almost a year and a half old, I started the tank in December of 2005.

Thanks guys :), I am really pleased with the new look.

badass! WOW travis, i'm really becomming more and more happy with your tank.

Thats aquascaping that'll give nice FW tanks a run for their money.

Great job!

Can you talk about your rock wall a little more? Is it just liverock? Foam? what?

Thanks!

I have the smallest Tunze Nanostream, but it is still kicking up the sand in the middle, I think I need some CC to place there so I can keep some substrate in that area without it getting blown away.

The rock wall was just that, a rock wall. Nothing but LR and Base Rock.

Looks incredible. Love the trench.

I like your avatar, too. I also drive a Mazda. You can guess what model Mazda I drive from my avatar, you can also infer that it's not stock. If I remember correctly you drive a 3 5-door?

What I like most about the new scape is the COMPLETE two way cave I have created on the left side. The fish can swim in from the front and exit in the trench area, or vise versa.

fewskillz, I drive a 3 Sedan. I am getting in my Injen CAI today...woot!

Here are two shots, one of the trench, the other of the cave. If you look close inside the cave you can see the Yellow Watchman Goby sticking his head out of his new burrow.

now thats a different aquascape than what we normally see. i really like how you have the opening in the middle, now you can put lps on one side and any other corals on the other, and do not have to worry about lps stinging the other corals. the aqauscape makes the tank look much bigger, just because now you have 2 seperate sides.

how many pounds of lr did you have before? you said less 20-25 pounds, so you must have had a lot before. i got about 25 pounds in my tank, and its reasonable.

Not a huge fan of blue backgrounds but i do like yours.

I used to be like that until a few years of having black backgrounds, convinced me blue is silly but everything looks 'happier.'

I would say that I have some where around 25-35 lbs of rock in there right now. Some of the rocks are denser than the others, so that makes them heavier.

I really don't pay attention to how many pounds of rock I need for a tank, just as long as the scape has lot of surface area, it doesn't matter what the weight is.

I have a 20" 150w Sunpod with the stock bulb. (bought it used, had I bought new I would have gotten the 24" so I could have used the legs instead of having to hang it from the ceiling.)

I have had black backgrounds in the past, they look great until you get coral in there, it really drabs out the color. Blue makes everything pop. I'll find some pictures of other blue backgrounded tanks.

i would think a black background would bring out the corals. the black background isn't as much as a distraction as the blue, meaning the corals would be the main distraction. then again, a black will just soke up the light, where as a blue background will kind of reppel it into the tank.
